What qualification is required?
All three of the following: graduation in any discipline from a recognised University; a C.P.C.T. score card from MAP-IT or another agency recognised by the Madhya Pradesh Government; and a one-year diploma course in Computer Application from an institution recognised by the Madhya Pradesh Government. B.E. (CSE/IT), MCA, BCA, M.Sc. or B.Sc. (IT/CS), M.Tech, AICTE-approved polytechnic diplomas in computer science or computer applications, DOEACC/NIELIT diploma-level exams, a Modern Office Management course from a government polytechnic and a one-year government ITI COPA certificate are accepted in place of the diploma. A B.Sc. or B.Com degree with only one computer subject is not accepted. All qualifications must be held by the closing date.
What is the age limit?
Candidates must have completed 18 years as on 01 January 2026. The upper limit is 40 years for unreserved men from any state and for Madhya Pradesh EWS men, and 45 years for Madhya Pradesh domiciled OBC, SC and ST candidates of either sex, for employees of Madhya Pradesh government departments, corporations, boards and autonomous bodies and Nagar Sainik, and for all women and all Divyang candidates from any state. Candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh must apply as unreserved and get no relaxation. Ex-servicemen may deduct their full defence service from their age, but the resulting age cannot exceed the upper limit by more than three years.
What is the application fee?
The High Court's examination fee is Rs 200 for unreserved candidates and for all candidates from outside Madhya Pradesh, and Rs 0 for Madhya Pradesh domiciled OBC, SC, ST and EWS candidates and all Divyangjan. On top of that everyone pays Rs 743.40 in portal and other charges to the service provider, making the total Rs 943.40 and Rs 743.40 respectively. There is no provision for refund or adjustment. Candidates who clear the preliminary examination pay a further Rs 743.40 portal charge to sit the Hindi typing skill test.
What is the selection process?
Two stages. First an online preliminary examination of 100 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each in 120 minutes, with 20 marks each on GK and General Science including Madhya Pradesh GK, Maths and Logical Reasoning, General Hindi, English knowledge and Computer knowledge. About five candidates per post are shortlisted category-wise (a 1:5 ratio, including everyone tied on the cut-off), and their documents are then scrutinised. Second, a Hindi typing skill test of about 350 words in 10 minutes on the Remington Gail layout for 50 marks. The preliminary examination is screening only and its marks are not counted in the final result.
What are the minimum marks in the typing test?
55 per cent for unreserved and OBC candidates, 49.5 per cent for EWS, 45 per cent for SC, and 40 per cent for ST and Divyang candidates. Typing is scored on speed (NWPM) and accuracy per C.P.C.T. norms, with 0.50 mark deducted for every missed word and every error and 0.10 mark for every backspace. Delete, arrow keys and the mouse are disabled; only Backspace can be used. Ties go to the older candidate, and there is no re-checking or re-evaluation.

Is there a service bond?
Yes. A selected candidate must execute a bond of two lakh rupees in the prescribed format and undertake to serve for at least three years after joining. Resigning or leaving before that, or breaching any bond condition, forfeits the bond and the amount becomes payable. The bond amount is not charged if the candidate resigns with prior permission to join Madhya Pradesh Government or Central Government service.
Where is the preliminary examination held?
At Jabalpur, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Sagar, Satna and Ujjain, in one or more shifts as required, with different question papers if there is more than one shift. The Examination Cell's decision on district, centre and shift is final. No travel allowance is paid for either the preliminary examination or the skill test.
