Candidates must have completed 21 years and must not be more than 40 years of age as on 01 January 2026, that is born not before 1 January 1986 and not after 1 January 2005. The upper limit is 55 years for Divyangjan. A relaxation of 5 years applies to Scheduled Caste and Other Backward Class candidates of UP, UP government employees and specified teaching staff, and 15 years to Divyangjan of UP.
How are candidates selected?
Category-1 and Category-2 posts are filled on the marks of the online examination plus an interview, and Category-3 posts on the online examination plus an efficiency test where the post prescribes one. Up to 15 times the number of vacancies are declared successful in the Preliminary Examination for the Main Examination, and on the Main Examination result up to 3 times the vacancies per post are called for interview and up to 5 times for the efficiency test. The Minimum Efficiency Standard in the Main Examination is 35 per cent for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates and 40 per cent for all others.
