IIT JEE Advanced Result 2026

None. JEE (Advanced) is an entrance examination, not a recruitment. It is the route through which admission to undergraduate programs across the IITs is carried out, and the information brochure publishes no vacancy count at all. The number of seats in each program is settled by the individual IITs and by the Joint Seat Allocation Authority at the seat-allocation stage.

IIT Roorkee is the Organizing Institute for JEE (Advanced) 2026. The examination itself is conducted by seven zonal coordinating IITs: Bhubaneswar, Kanpur, Delhi, Guwahati, Roorkee, Madras and Bombay. There are twenty-three IITs across the country.

Bachelors, Integrated Masters and Bachelor-Master Dual Degree programs in engineering, sciences or architecture. B.Tech. and B.S. run four years; B.Arch., Dual Degree B.Tech.-M.Tech., Dual Degree B.S.-M.S., Integrated M.Tech., Integrated B.S.-M.S., Dual Degree B.Tech.-MBA and Dual Degree B.S.-MBA run five years. Not every program is offered at every institute, and the list for 2026-27 is announced by JoSAA during choice filling. The medium of instruction is English in all programs.

Clause 11 of the JEE (Advanced) 2026 information brochure sets the eligibility criteria for appearing - the attempt limit, the JEE (Main) 2026 rank condition and the date-of-birth and year-of-Class-XII rules - and Clause 13 sets the registration fee. No. A qualified candidate must also meet the Class XII (or equivalent) board examination performance criterion set out in Clause 26 of the information brochure. Seats are then allotted following Government of India policy on merit, category and nationality, under the business rules of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) 2026, which are published separately.

GEN-EWS 10% of seats in every course, OBC-NCL 27%, SC 15% and ST 7.5%. Persons with Disability having at least 40% impairment get 5% of seats within each of the OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC and ST category seats, whatever the type of disability - locomotor, visual or severe dyslexic - and leprosy-cured candidates otherwise fit to pursue the courses are included in that sub-category. Two conditions catch people out: an OBC candidate must be on the current central list, so being on a state OBC list alone does not qualify, and a creamy-layer OBC candidate is treated as general and is eligible only for OPEN seats.

No. The category recorded in the JEE (Main) 2026 database maintained by the JEE Apex Board is final and carries over unchanged into JEE (Advanced) 2026. Requests for a change of category are not entertained. Candidates in the GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories are declared qualified on a relaxed criterion under Clause 22 of the brochure.

Yes. Supernumerary seats have been created for female candidates, with each IIT deciding the number so that every institute reaches at least 20% female enrolment in its undergraduate programs. These seats go only to Indian nationals and OCI/PIO (I) candidates declared qualified in JEE (Advanced) 2026, and are allotted strictly on performance in the examination.

Seats for foreign nationals are supernumerary and capped at 10% of the total seats in every course; they are outside the GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD reservation and carry no female sub-category. Foreign nationals are not required to write JEE (Main) 2026 and may register for JEE (Advanced) directly. OCI/PIO candidates who obtained their card before 04.03.2021 may choose to apply either as foreign nationals or at par with Indian nationals, and the choice made at registration cannot be changed later; those who obtained it after 04.03.2021 are treated as foreign nationals. In no case are OCI/PIO candidates entitled to GEN-EWS, OBC-NCL, SC or ST reservation.

Institutes that have used JEE (Advanced) ranks include IISc Bengaluru, the IISERs at Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati, IIST Thiruvananthapuram, RGIPT Rae Bareli and IIPE Visakhapatnam. Their admission is not run through the JEE (Advanced) brochure, so candidates should contact them directly.

Two seats are available for preferential allotment in each institute for Defence Service candidates, who are children of defence or paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in action during war or peacetime operations. To get this preferential allotment the candidate must be in the Common Rank List of JEE (Advanced) 2026.

The examination was held on 17 May 2026 and the result was declared on 01 June 2026. The provisional answer key was published on 25 May 2026, objections were accepted on 25 and 26 May 2026, and the final answer key was released on 01 June 2026.

The last date to submit the online application is 05 May 2026 (Extended). Applications received after this date are not considered.

The exam is scheduled for 17 May 2026. Admit cards are released closer to the exam date.
