Frequently Asked Questions
Does this notification cover Agniveer MR as well as SSR?
No. The official notification linked on this page is the Indian Navy's advertisement for Agniveer (SSR) 01/2027 and 02/2027 batch. Agniveer MR is not mentioned anywhere in it, and it lays down eligibility only for Agniveer (SSR). The Agniveer (MR) advertisement is a separate document and is not linked here.
What is the educational qualification for Agniveer SSR?
Three alternative doors. A 10+2 pass with Mathematics and Physics from a Board of School Education recognised by the Ministry of Education with minimum 50% marks in aggregate; or a passed three years diploma course in Engineering in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobiles, Computer Science, Instrumentation Technology or Information Technology from a Central, State or UT recognised Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in aggregate; or a passed two years Vocational Course with Physics and Mathematics as non-vocational subjects from a recognised Education Board with 50% marks in aggregate. What is the age limit for Indian Navy Agniveer SSR 2026?
The advertisement sets a date of birth window rather than a minimum and maximum age, and the window differs by batch. For the 01/2027 batch a candidate should be born between 01 Dec 2004 and 31 May 2009, both dates inclusive. For the 02/2027 batch, between 01 May 2005 and 31 Oct 2009, both dates inclusive. Anyone born between 01 Dec 2004 and 31 Oct 2009 may apply for INET 2026, and is then shortlisted for the Stage II process of whichever batch their date of birth qualifies them for.
Can a married candidate apply?
No. Only unmarried Indian male and female candidates are eligible for enrolment as Agniveer, a certificate of being unmarried has to be given at the time of enrolment, and an Agniveer may not marry during the entire four year tenure. Marrying during the tenure, or being found already married despite the certificate, leads to dismissal from service.
What is the application fee and is there any concession?
An examination fee of Rs 550 plus 18% GST, payable by every candidate during the Stage I INET application. The advertisement grants no category exemption or concession. The fee is charged only at Stage I and there is no separate fee for the Stage II process; it is not refunded under any circumstances, and where money is debited without an admit card being generated the candidate should wait 7 working days for an automatic refund. Uploading the application from a Common Service Centre costs an extra Rs 60 plus GST, which is a service charge and is entirely optional.
How can the fee be paid?
Online only, by net banking or by Visa, Master or RuPay credit or debit card, or by UPI.
What is the INET exam pattern and is there negative marking?
Stage I INET is computer-based, with 100 questions of 01 mark each in four sections covering English, Science, Mathematics and General Awareness. The paper is bilingual in Hindi and English, objective multiple-choice at 10+2 standard, and lasts one hour. One fourth, or 0.25, of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for a wrong answer. A candidate must pass in every section as well as in aggregate, and the Navy determines the pass marks. The Stage II written exam follows the same pattern but has no negative marking stated and is held only for candidates who clear the Physical Fitness Test.
What are the Physical Fitness Test standards?
Male candidates must complete a 1.6 Km run in 06 minutes 30 seconds, 20 squats, 15 push-ups and 15 bent knee sit-ups. Female candidates must complete the 1.6 Km run in 08 minutes, 15 squats, 10 push-ups and 10 bent knee sit-ups. Qualifying the PFT is mandatory for selection and candidates undergo it at their own risk.
What are the medical and physical standards?
Minimum height for both male and female candidates is 157 cms. Visual standards are uncorrected vision 6/12, 6/12, corrected vision 6/6, 6/6 and colour perception CP PASS. Permanent body tattoos are permitted only on the inner face of the forearms, from the inside of the elbow to the wrist, and on the dorsal side of the hand; a permanent tattoo anywhere else bars the candidate from recruitment. A candidate found medically unfit may appeal for review within a maximum of 05 days at a designated military hospital allocated by the Navy, and no further appeal is permitted.
Is anyone exempt from the INET exam?
Yes. Sponsor candidates and NCC C certificate holders who upload their original certificates during the Stage I application, and whose certificates are verified through CABS and DG NCC respectively, are exempted from the Stage I INET exam and are issued a call-up for the Stage II process directly. The original certificate is re-verified at every stage and any discrepancy cancels the candidature.
When is the admit card issued?
The Call up Letter cum Admit Card for Stage I INET 2026 is downloaded from joinindiannavy.gov.in tentatively one week before the online examination. It is issued only to candidates who have successfully paid the examination fee, and nothing is sent by post.
